No, not really. It seems to be an aggregator of stories pitched towards the psychically-cramped shock-jock end of journalism's spectrum. If the EUT has any potency it's more in the gathering together of political totems than diligent reporting. Some of the stories may happen to be true; where that's the case they are explored more intelligently in proper news outlets. The Israeli self-immolations are just one example.

There other blog-type outfits, with vaguely similar names, presenting purported news of this ilk. I know some people have every faith in them - including a highly intelligent good friend of mine in the US who was astounded when I challenged their credentials. I guess it depends on what kind of news environment people are used to - the printed word has a kind of spurious authority and if people don't cross-read the media or opt for 'personalised' news to flatter their own assumptions then dross easily becomes unimpeachable fact.

And of course it has no connection with the European Union. I suppose I could start a blog called 'The USA Times' - I know you'd have more sense than to believe anything I wrote in it:)

I contend there is some truth in a lot of news outlets, the lies come when one see commentaries. I actually like the Eurpean Union Times because it covers news that I would not be aware of if I did not visit their site. For example, Israeli protesters that set themself on fire in protest of high cost of living--something we will not see in the news here in the USA.

It was in Arutz Sheva (Israeli News) of course. EUT had an article about a military coup in the US. Seemed really hard to swallow, but there are stranger things in Heaven and earth.
