you shouldn't need a reason to help people. would it be worth helping you? the way your making it sound you'd not care and/or be ungrateful so no it wouldn't, but some would at some point either way

Yes, it's the right thing to do. I believe in karma.....what goes around comes around. I've seen it happen. Helping others promotes a feeling of well-being. Volunteering does that, too.

Like wayswin has said before, if you need to look for a point is a bad sign, it should come out from you naturally. We all have the ability to walk on other people's shoes, it is called empathy, then it is our decision to practise it or not.
