Is there anyone who believes like I do that the only good politician is a dead one?

Hmm, no that may be just a wee bit extreme.

I don't wish death upon them, but I think the notion of an honest politician is extremely rare.
I believe that there are many who get voted into office with good intentions, and for whatever reasons, become corrupt. I'd say greed is one big factor, and another would be that they see how things really are, so they just give up and become like the others.

Politicians should be paid a decent annual salary & have all other expenses cut. That way only those with a passion for improving 'everyones' lot would even consider standing. It is just a job after all & they forget that they work for us.

Their are some that start off with good intentions. It's to bad they get corrupt in office.

Obama is a good politician, and you cannot really argue otherwise. He is a biracial kid raised black by a single mom whose dad was a Kenyan national, who admitted weed and coke use, and went from that to state senator for about a second, U.S. senator for about a half-second, and then got elected president of the United States of America and commander in chief of the most powerful force the world has ever known. You may not like his policies, but you have to give the devil his due with respect to being a politician whose primary raison d'atre is to get himself elected.

Politicians should be judged on their policy and not their party.
Not all politicians are bad. Some Politicians become commissioners, mayors, state representatives because of a personal crusade they have passion for. It may be a teacher who wants to make changes in education, or a father who's daughter was killed by a drunk driver and wants to make changes in that area. Politicians may make poor choices not from greed but for not completely understanding the full extent of the legislation being voted on, some don't read or understand the entire bill(s) they vote on due to time constraints or comprehension capacity. Some legislation is very complicated and written up by attorneys. Not all politicians are attorney's and/or business owners or have the experience on matter in which they are voting on. It is vitally important they seek input from people in which a piece of legislature affects, as well as, taking the time to research and understand that which they vote on. It is up to us, you and me to contact our representatives and express our concerns, to read legislation ourselves so that we too understand what we are voting for and/or who we are voting for. In America, we still vote for these elected officials and therefore, we have a tremendous amount of power if we choose to exert it and not stick our heads in the sand. Today, the internet makes our voices heard louder than ever. Sites like change.org and EP can make our concerns heard by way of petitions to get our elected officials attention.
