Resolved Question

Is this considered gossip?

Someone today told me that a mutual friend of ours is not doing too well. He's cancer had returned and he was going to find out today what were his options.

Anyway, a friend of mine called me tonight who is related to this person and I told her what I had heard. She didn't know anything and was going to tell her mother to see if she knew anything. I feel bad that I said anything. She said that I didn't do anything wrong and that it's not considered bad gossip?????????

Edit: this "mutual friend" is an older gentlemen that lives in our neighborhood.

i don't know that its 'gossip', but it would probably have been better for you to call your friend. you could find out the truth, & i'm sure he'd really like to know you're there for him.

I wouldn't class it as gossip.. concern more like it.... some family members can get rather snaky if they hear 'family news' from outsiders, but I wouldn't worry yourself over this... the gentleman may get around to telling them in his own time.
