Is this Normal?

I have been with the same man for such a long time(we were supposed to get married in March), and TODAY we came to the conclusion that we didn't want to be together anymore. I wasn't so much unhappy w/ him (actually not at all unhappy), more "used" to him i think. Comfortable. Complacent maybe. But why do i feel relieved? I feel free...and only a tiny speck sad, but also excited. I love him dearly, but is this normal???

It makes perfect sense to me that comfortable wasn't good enough. Sounds like the excitement was gone. I think anytime you feel relief getting away from a person, the person is not right for you.

Maybe you are taking love for granted? So many think that love is all lights and glitter and non stop action, when in reality it is the very thing you are avoiding ... closeness. Hopefuly you two arent making a big mistake. Jazz it all up enough and its gone forever.

I think you may have turned the last page in that book.... build another bridge and get over it.. plenty of time to meet new people... good luck.

The words 'normal' and 'relationship' do not ever belong in the same sentence

actually, it's perfectly normal, you grew bored with each other but you were so comfortable in your typical rhythm that neither of you wanted to be the one to break it

when one door closes, another one opens. that's the feeling you are experiencing , anticipation. you two sound mature enough to love and let go, so good luck to you both.

"There is no such, thing in life, as normal."- Morrissey

I think you will always love each other, but it is great that you have discovered that you are not In Love before the marriage. On that note, may you be both be blessed with another love soon and remain friends.
