It really is against the law to jump off a building in New York. What do you suppose the penalty is?

Death is the correct answer. New York really has a law that punishes people who jump off buildings with the death penalty. (Last page of SOCO magazine May 2012)

The charge would be (if you survive) criminal trespass- but it's one of those academic things- except to the extent that his family would sue the building owners for attractive nuisance and negligence...and win

In a pending bill, people who leap off structures more than 50 ft without a permit would face up to year in prison and a $1,000 fine. But it's not law yet

Depends on the height of the building and if you're wearing a parachute or paragliding. I think it's also to do the "human fly" thing and climb up the outside of a skyscraper.

I avoid it like the plague. If you jump with the parachute I think it's a misdemeanor; if you jump without it, it's a SPLAT.
