I used to get that way, and I can identify with your feelings of being alone. I just got to the point where I started treating my birthday as just another day. Sometimes I even forget my age. That works for me.
If that doesn't work for you, then you can just try being nice to yourself on that day. Do some little something special. Bubble bath. Give yourself a facial or a manicure. Buy yourself a lotto ticket or some other special little thing. Get yourself some flowers.
Lots of people in the same boat. Hope it gets better.
