Why does it have to be long distance? It does not mean it goes a long way nor does it mean that a short distant relationship will be a short one...

they're doable but they're incredibly complicated and I am not a fan of them personally if I can avoid them. But I'd say it just depends on what both your expectations are at the outset and how you manage your way around it.
