I spent a couple seasons working part time in a greenhouse and gardening center but that was a few years ago.

I know a few things about growing veggies. I don't really think I'm a good gardener, though.

I'm really just starting myself. This is my 2nd year of really trying to grow things. My basil is doing great, I water it almost every day...the heat in Texas mandates that. My squash plant didn't survive, but for me, it seems like 2nd attempts are more successful. I think gardening is alot about learning from experience so good luck to you!

I grow herbs, veggies and flowers. Alot depends on what kind of soil you have as to how well certain things will grow.

I grow bay leaves, thyme, parsley and tomatoes which are growing wonderfully but no matter how many times I try to grow coriander it always dies. Anybody have any advice as to why/what am I doing wrong.

Pose a specific question about gardening. I've had several successful gardens but what I know may or may not do you any good. What did you want to know? What to plant? How to plant? Where? When? Just put it out there and someone who knows will prolly answer you.

To say I'm a "good gardener" I would have nothing to compare to so I'll say I love planting a small garden and every year we do love fresh veggies and the neighbors enjoy our bounty as well. I finally learned mulch, compost and drip hose irrigation are the 3 main factors in a low maintenance garden.

In late Fall I begin adding in my lawn clippings after piling it up all summer composting and when I first started the garden the soil was almost a hard clay and baseball size stones, not so now though. With a little TLC and effort in soil preparation, it doesn't take but maybe a 14 X 20 to produce a large variety enough to either can, freeze or share.

Have fun and enjoy.
