I've thought of joining a social anxiety support group. Has anyone tried that?

I joined EP almost two years ago. Being able to meet other people who suffer from anxiety has helped me a lot. Being able to say exactly how I feel has helped me in seeing myself and my life from a different perspective.

That's why your joined EP. You will find that there are a lot of people just like you and respect you as a person with strenghts and weaknesses just like everyone else. Relax and enjoy the company of your fellow EP personalities.

I didn't join an official group... the SA prevented me from doing that. Fortunately I found a couple people who were going thru the same thing... we would keep in contact and eventually I worked it out. I took small steps at first... but gradually I was able to meld back into society.

If you want to discuss the specifics of what small steps I took, shoot me an email.... that'll be your first small step :-)

don't do it, social axiety passes once you're able to talk to a random person without being nervous, just practice. but that means ANY person, so that means you shouldn't be ignorant.

Well, I have not tried an actual suppport group other then this particular community... I must say this is amazingly supportive... You could always talk with someone who could direct you to a local support group of some kind..... They can be very helpful.
