Just got back from lunch with a former coworker - was it a date?
I just got back from lunch with a former coworker. We're both on school holidays right now (we're teachers). He migrated here from Europe a few years ago and doesn't have any family here. His closest male friends have moved interstate. I get the feeling that he's a bit lonely, and apart from wanting to catch up, I was at a loose end, so I suggested we have lunch. We had lunch over an hour and a half, and coffee (at the same place) after, mostly talking about work or travel. He mentioned the fact that he was single a few times. The age gap between us is quite large; he's 40, I'm 24. At the end, he paid for lunch. I offered to pay for my share but he said it was fine, a 'congratulations' for a promotion I received. We parted with a brief hug and a 'greeting' kiss on the cheek and he said he'd be in touch soon. Did I just go on a date without realising it? (I am super bad at figuring this stuff out!!!)
