Punishments come from man. Consequences come from God.

punishment is negative consequence for a negative action, a consequence is something that occurs in response to a previous action. For example, I study and a consequence of that could be me getting good grades, or it could be me losing time that I could spend with my friends. That's the general gist of it, but it can get a lot deeper when you look at positive and negative reinforcement and punishment

A punishment is what children are given when they do something wrong.
Consequences can be more like what could naturally occur when you make a mistake.
