Just wanted to set it straight ...............About the avatar?

I love the South and the Confederate flag represents it the best in my opinion. Thus, the avatar. Anyone following my questions here on this site will see that they are in no way racist. They are eclectic, thought provoking and fun too for the people always in the lookout to crack that killer joke.

And yet despite all this, sometimes I get answers which accuse me of being racist. On the basis of what exactly? Just because I associate the confederate battle flag with Southern pride? If sporting one flag triggers these kind of thoughts in some people's brains, then honestly, don't y'all think it's ironic to call me close minded?

It is NOT THE SAME FLAG that the South used in the civil war.
That flag just means Southern pride, where I live, in Louisiana. That flag is my high schools official flag and we have a TON of black people.

Ignore them. We're both about to get a bunch of messages calling us racist.

The flag to me symbolizes the racist groups that wear it on there uniforms and fly it. Nazis and KKK have that flag every where they are in love with it and the swastika
Around my aria a lot of people have that flag in their yards. It's used to symbolize white power and skin head gangs.

Didn't we fight this war already?
aside from a lot of dead, what did it really accomplish?

In connection with this topic and discussion of the flag and "Southern Pride" isn't that the same as saying Mexican Pride or Muslim Pride when confronted with discussions on immigration or religion?

My point is, we are all in the same country. the Japanese who were sent to internment camps, who were born in america and held american jobs, were shown a prejudice out of fear of "race is thicker than loyalty" argument and WAR was the excuse.

WAR an EXCUSE??? WAR is the RESULT of EXCUSES.

Its all the same thing. A discussion of "Southern Pride" is more legitimate than "X-ethnicity" pride because its a home born american thing. Its not.

Its about establishing a National UNITY, not pride. It takes leaders to guide the way, unfortunately we don't have any.

So its up to the individuals. Unfortunately we are terminally locked in prideful and myopic arguments, old arguments that never held any water in the first place in relation to the problems. In effect, nothing has changed.

The pride arguments have just gotten more complex. Money, location, race, religion, politics. when are we going to GET IT.

If we are continually in a confused state of conflict, then we are continually open to being manipulated by our own ignorance and fears. Its simple, stop playing these games of pride and semantics and start taking a larger picture responsibility. Start doing by example, take responsibility for your life and actions back.

Unless you'd rather sit on a porch and wave flags back and forth at each other in simian semaphore.

As long as it is just that...and it is about southern pride without the racism...who cares?!!! I have seen avatars with women with their faces covered....crosses...naked people...everyone else expresses their opinions! My father is from the South...I have no issues with anything (as long as it is used for good not evil.)

you be proud, that is one thing the govenment (no matter how hard they try) can't take away from you.

I am Very proud of the History of my country, as i believe every member of every other country should have great pride in their own countries... and if your not proud, then get off your butts and do something that makes you proud.
