Resolved Question

Know about apathy/aloofness?

So my latest attempt at happiness/inner peace has revolved around awareness, which has been absolutely wonderful until just recently as I feel too static. I see most everyone (including family and friends) go through life in a somnambulant state which is building a wall of apathy around me. Im lonely at times, but still I feel like I'm on track.. Just missing a piece of the puzzle. Its hard for me to remain acutely aware without passing judgement. I've been so aloof lately. If anyone thinks they can help Im willing to take your suggestions into consideration. Thanks.=]

Awareness as a means to happiness? That seems like a contradiction to me. The more aware you become, the more you become aware of the bad (as well as the good) in this world and in others. That opens the door to many other feelings (such as apathy) - but happiness, I would think, would necessarily be the main one.

Judgment, on the other hand, has a lot to do with tolerance and understanding (or lack of, as the case may be). When you judge someone, you are doing so based on how much or little you understand them and their situation and how tolerant you are.

Mercy is a wonderful thing - it is full of tolerance and understanding. Patience is also a good thing ... keeping frustration at bay ...

You may be becoming apathetic because of your own inability to cope with the new awareness you have awakened. Love is the answer you are looking for.

Awareness, to me, has nothing to do with judgment of others. It is not a state by which we stand and observe with disdain those that we love. Awareness to me is all about finding a healthy path for ourselves, which is all we can control. If you are concerned about the sleeping people, find a loving way to wake them up!

That peice of the puzzle you are missing is the future- and to make sure you don't miss that you need to make sure you stay on track with your goals and who you are. You didn't mention what you want to do in life- but if you don't have a vision for yourself you could easily not get anywhere. Keep the inner peace and calm- you are on the right track, but just make sure you stay there and ride the waves when they come instead of being tossed by them. Good luck with your life! Duana

Awareness has little to do with apathy. One can be exquisitely aware of their own emotions and the ones of those around them, and that's as far from apathy as you can get. All I can really suggest is to try to see another's situation from every possible angle, and to consider every possible thing that could have any bearing on their actions. It's almost ironic that in such a blend of objective/subjective logic, one can truly find an emotional understanding

Remaining acutely aware without passing judgment...hmm...maybe take advantage of your newly found "awake" state and "wake up" some of the people in your lives? Not in a harsh way, but in a fun, loving way. Show them that there is so much to be passionate about, and that their lives are happening RIGHT NOW. (I'm resisting the urge to yell out, "Carpe diem!" right now...)
