I've just been through that with the bf. He absolutely will not let me cook, and I am an excellent cook (just not Italian). He rearranged my kitchen. He stuffs my refridgerator with food. There are times when I accept it, and there are times when I love it, and there are times when I hate it, because he doesn't seem to use sanitary practices as I would. It just...is. If I put my foot down, he would never eat at my house again, and I know that...so I allow it.

If he was any good at it, I would enjoy having the man cook for me. However, I do enjoy cooking, so I would not want to be banned from the kitchen entirely. Also, it's a pleasant bonding activity to cook together, Barring that, I would prefer my own cooking at least a couple of times a week. We could take turns or maybe he could teach me how to make his favorite dishes, and vice-versa.

I had a husband who insisted on chasing us all out of the kitchen. He was always telling us how he had been a chef, etc. His finished dishes, though, were atrocious. Everyone complained. I offered to show him how to make the kinds of things we liked. He declined. Eventually, he went "on strike" and I took over the cooking. The whole thing helped to alienate him from the family.

I had a guy (who is a chef) cook dinner for me. He asked me what I wanted, we went shopping, he picked out everything, paid for it, and cooked while I sat on the kitchen counter watching. It was the biggest turn on EVERY! (I usually have always done all my own cooking) So I wouldn't mind. I do love cooking and am VERY good at it - worked in professional kitchens, but the change is nice!
