Mostly...people are too dumb to pick their reading lists for themselves. Once something hits the news...a certain part of the population has to read it no matter if they would otherwise be interested or not

I saw a woman reading 50 Shades of Grey on the train today.

"At least you don't have to lick your fingers to turn the pages" I said with a smile,

"You disgusting ******!" she screamed and stormed off down the carriage.

Are all Kindle readers such miserable ******'s....? ? ? ?

It is an erotica book that has gotten the 'OK' from general media to read. A typical mom would hardly be caught dead reading **** books but since this is all over TV, there's no fear about it. I think this is why it's popular.

But in the same way that smutty movies have a crappy story just to hold it together, the writing is less than quality. Nobody seems to care though. It is popular with popular people so it must be good.

I thought the same thing. To me, it's boring and monotonous. (And BDSM is my thing, lol) 12 chapters of rambling about him, and I lost interest.

It is a book with a protecting man who want to look after a girl and some kinky bits. i.e. what women want is an old fashioned guy with new and enlightened tastes.
