Ladies..do you blow dry your hair straight before using a flat iron or do you just use the flat iron?

I have a habit of ironing my hair straight once my curly hair is dry. Will this do more damage if I don't blow dry it straight first?

I suppose that you blow dry it as straight as possible before ironing it....but then again, I've got curly hair and I like it like that! *Giggles*

I tried the l'oreal smooth and straight then I air dry my hair.. then I straighten it with the hot iron... it became easier to straighten and it became so beautifull.. try it... sassee1	Posted Feb 5th, 2009 at 5:58PM blowing drying it straight first is much easier. Use the flat iron for finishing touches. It can dry your hair out pretty bad so make sure you use a polishing cream or straightening cream before hand. Rated: +1Vote for this!

acidite	Posted Nov 3rd, 2008 at 11:07AM Either way you'll be damaging your hair, but it all a matter of how your hair behaves. If your hair dosen't take much to straighten after air drying then I would go with that option. But, if your hair takes a long time to try to perfect with the straightener doing that, then I would try blowdring your hair first and then touching it up with the flat iron. I have one of those wet to dry flat iron I don't to use it on my wet hair it will boil your hair girls don't fall for it! So I tie my hair up at night let it air dry over night and then use a flat iron, hair dryers burn my scalp. I also have very fine wavy hair that if givin the chance would take over my face and smother me, so yes air dry and then flat iron. no on the wet to iron. Great Question! Rated: +1Vote for this!
wasmessedup	Posted Feb 5th, 2009 at 5:58PM I wash mine at night and leave in to dry naturally. Then it the morning I use my hair sraightners and that way I am using less heat on my hair. If you have good straightners, your will not normally have to do this more than a couple of days - if you dont wash it. That way less washing means keeping the hairs natural oils in!
