Romance is spontaneous. Not meaning that you can't plan a romantic evening or anything, but I mean in the sense that it's a surprise to me. I love the little things, coming up and hugging me from behind while I cook or do laundry, bringing me a flower that he hand picked from outside, leaving me a sweet note or sending me a random email, things like that. Of course, I love the whole romantic evening thing, but as long as I know he thinks of me throughout the day, then I love it. :)

Romance.... lets see, honestly guys this is what a lot of us are thinking. Starting a romantic night starts early on in the day, doing small things to help us ladies whether it's just offering to help with the dishes, or just out of the blue saying, "Baby, you look beautiful today". Small acts of generosity go a long way, and don't think they go unnoticed! Intimacy, is what we ladies crave, so grab us when we are walking by and give us a hug and kiss... After small things like these, we always try to return the favor, and I guarantee you you'll have a fantastic night later on. Romance to me isn't about a nice dinner out and a dozen roses, its about being close to my wonderful boyfriend and both of us enjoying each others company.

The little things. Grand gestures, diamonds, roses & all that are nice, but a bit obvious.
I'm a big fan of chivalry, but sadly in this modern age it is dying out & saddest of all, it's us girlies who are to blame - the feminist movement may have liberated us, but it's killed romance to some extent too. If a guy offers to pay, he's sexist, if he opens a door for you, he's sexist, if he offers to carry your bags, sexist! This is rubbish - if a man wants to pay, let him; it makes him feel good & it saves you cash! Why would you WANT to carry that heavy bag when there's a strapping man there to help? Yes, we are perfectly capable of doing these things, but why should we have to just to prove a point? I'm an old-fashioned girl - on our first night out together, my hubby opened the taxi door for me, pulled out the chair for me & insisted on paying, saying it was his pleasure. That gentlemanly (NOT SEXIST!) behaviour convinced me he was a keeper. It made me feel really special, not patronised or weak!
Something as simple as a cuddle in the kitchen 'cos he felt like it' is romantic, or making you a cup of tea when you get in without you asking is romantic. Like i said, the little things.

Romance to me is simple... it's really just knowing that he's made a specific effort in any aspect of life where it was obvious he was thinking about me and what I might like or want instead of just himself.

Could be that he brought dinner home because he knew I had a long day at work and wouldn't feel like cooking.

Could be that he picked up my favorite flavor of ice cream while at the store instead of his own without my asking for it.

Could be that he turned on the electric blanket just for me when he knew I was going to have to go to sleep early.

Could be that he filled the tub up with hot water for me to take a relaxing bath when he knew I was stressing and could use it.

Could be his calling me when he knows he'll be home late from work, so I'm not worried and don't call him first wondering if he's still alive (he works A LOT, we rarely talk during the workday)

Maybe I'm just easy to please! LOL

I find it's the little things that are most romantic. Just some small token to show he's thinking of you. A random text or phone call just because he wants to speak with you. One arm slid around your shoulders while you're watching a movie. Him randomly telling you that he loves you, or you're beautiful, without being chided into doing so...

Just simple little things that remind me that I'm on his mind and he thinks I'm wonderful and beautiful. Like when my fiance' will just send a random text that says "hey beautiful" or tells me what a wonderful mother I am. A kiss on the hand or when he holds me and tells me I'm everything to him. I don't care to much about the big gestures of flowers and gifts because they're so cliche'd and not a lot of thought goes into it. He can melt my heart with words or surprise kisses that come from his heart.

romance for me is...
let me sleep in
pour me coffee
stick a note on the bathroom mirror
kiss me goodbye
call me from work
come home a little early
change a poopie diaper
compliment my dinner (even if it's takeout)
cuddle me on the couch
kiss me goodnight

Romance is complicated. You recognize it when you see it, but in my opinion it's personal. It can not be forced. That wouldn't be romantic.
