Living alone or with someone else. Pros and cons?

I don't necessarily mean living with a significant other. Just someone else. What do you prefer? What's your experience? Give me pros and cons please. [Edit Details]

After living with other people all my life (51 years) I started living alone after my husband died. At first, I was at a loss--how could I organize my days without someone else's schedule to work around? Gradually, I came to enjoy it: I could change the house color to suit my taste, move the furniture, get rid of the awful painting that his best friend had given him...
But then I started to get lonely. I was talking to the cats, the radio, the TV, the houseplants and the dishwasher. I finally had to make a new rule for myself: go out into the world at least once a day on my days off, even if just to drink a cup of coffee and read at a favorite cafe.

Living alone PROS: Solitude, room to think and grow, time and quiet to do creative work
Living alone CONS: Loneliness, isolation, financial factors, dresses with back zippers

Living with others PROS: Cameraderie, sharing chores, financial factors, no problems with back zippers
Living with others CONS: lack of privacy, noise, disagreements, personality adjustments

I'd say the best way to decide is to sit down and figure out what's most important to YOU. Everything else is negotiable! (And get the rental agreement on paper!)

I guess it depends on who you may live with and how you feel about them. Living with someone can take effort and work cuz you may have different ideas/schedules/attitudes about how the place shall be. May or may not be a clean person. Are they a party person and you aren't? You like loud they like quiet? They have a steady job/income to pay their share of the bills/cost?

Sharing a place can be nice cuz you have someone to split the bills/costs.
you have someone to keep you company

You gotta have a good sense of who it is you want to live with.

I've found that if you live alone and get lonely, you can always go out or invite someone over. It's much easier that kicking a roommate/partner out.

living alone big time pros: you can do whatever you want whenever you want without having to comply with anybody else. it is a great sense of freedom.
cons: it may get boring sometimes, but only if you spend too much time at home.

also if you live with someone with whom you connect really well, you can have a great time laughing, cooking, talking, doing whatever together. but when one of the parties is in a bad mood, it really sucks.

I have had many roommates. Roommates are great cuz they pay half the bills. Plus your never alone, especially if your roommate happens to be your friend. The downside is you have to cleanup after them, sometimes they don't have their rent, and they basically get annoying. Another problem I've had with roommates is that they tend to 'move' their bf of gf in. When I say move I mean they stay every night without actually paying rent. These are good things to discuss before you move in with someone.
I just moved into my own place. I love it! It's the best! Except that my bills went up dramatically....and my earnings have gone down. I miss my roommate....sigh...
