it is a matter of both because you have chemical desires and also what happens when your body becomes used to your partners chemicals you must fight your brain with your heart and love them not just the chemical side affect of relationships

Both and in fact it is human nature.Even the coldest human being will feel a slight feeling of love maybe not to others but to herself/himself.Once a person doesn't feel love towards oneself, then life ends itself.That is why some people commit suicide as they give up hope as well.

Love is a force unto itself. You can feel it, and you know when its there just as you know when its not. The level of our sensitivity determines our honest feelings and Truth of what matters in wanting the Real thing and not the 'close enough' stuff.
Hope that may help a little anyway. (since these are my own feelings on this subject I adore)
