honestly i used to think i would ONLY have male dogs. but now that i have a little girl doggy i love her so much too. the things about females is that you can rub their whole belly and not worry about their ding ding being in the way. also they are more comforting when you are sad. if i am sad, my boy dog will jump on me and kiss me and say, "yes, mommy you are better now time to play!" but the girl will come over and give me kisses and plop herself on me and put her head on me like, "it will be ok, i will take care of you". i still love them both and woldn't choose male or female because all dogs are wonderful.

Having had both, I'd say that females are, on the whole, better. But dogs' personalities can vary greatly, so even if you're looking for a female, you might end up charmed by a male. :)

I've always heard the females were smarter..lol. But for me I have had several male dogs that were as smart as they come, one even saved me and my daughter from being attacked by a vicious dog. As for German Sheperds those are great dogs, I grew up around them.

I like female dogs more :) I have one right now and I've had 3 dogs before and she is the only female dog out of the 3, and this may sound weird but shes so affectionate and she acts like she really loves me as her "mom" I love her like shes one of my kids! I'm sure a male dog could do the same but this is just my experience :)

*******, usually. For certain apps, males are better, but even then some ******* ccan be almost as good. ..M.ale dog **** is absolutely grody smelling and hard to clean out of anything, and they do the silliest stuff with it, like mark your bed, your xmas tree, even your own leg while you are talking to the hot neighbor who just moved in... Yes, these things happened to me, lol. Get a nice girl doggie... Then you can have puppies to sell if you are careful with purchasing and breeding.

Domesticated and neat??? GSD??
Take a look at the Japanese Akita Inu.
They are extremely clean and well mannered if properly raised.

Gender shouldn't matter that much if a dog is well trained and handled properly. Neutering/spaying has been known to make dogs of either sex calmer and more manageable.

Female dogs as well as female cats. but male birds. But really it depends on their temperament and whether they have been 'fixed' (spayed/neutered) or not.
It also depends on the breed.
