Resolved Question

Medication refill time?

Ok, if I'm prescribed sleeping medication and they give me 30 pills, and say take 1 or 2 pills before bed, and I've been taking 2 every night. Does that mean I still have to wait 30 days to have my meds refilled? If I have to take 2 everynight, then the meds only last for 15 days.. :s
I'm totally new to this.

Sleeping pills can be addictive....They are very careful with that type of medication...(unless you are a physician to the stars in Hollywood)....

30 days, usually means 30 days....but, your pharmacist can tell you for sure, and if you need a refill, they will call your doctor's office, to try to get it for you.

On the bottle it tells you how many pills they will refill. So, when you get close, take it in for a refill. If you find you have to refill too often, try getting a 3 month supply. Most pharmacies these days charge $10 for 3 months and $4 for one month if it's on the list of around 4,000 meds. Check your local pharmacy.

If there is a 1-2 direction then you may be able to refill it before the 30 days. But dependant upon how many days the refill is for you may not be able to refill it before the 1 month marker. If you actually NEED to take 2 pills to get the sleeping relief then you need to relay that to your Doc. It is all dependant upon how the Doctor wrote the prescription and how many days that refill says it is for.

Throw the medication down the toilet. As unicorn mentioned, sleeping pills are addictive and their effectiveness deminishes as your body builds up a tolerance. Dont be a victim of BigPharma's greed.
