im in a similar situation, i dated someone some years back but shes married with kids and I have thought what could have been. I would like ot be friends with her and have found it diffcult when i see what she posts about whats shes been up to. Someone i know has said to me he regrets not keeping in contact with his ex, it mgiht depend on if you can deal with just being friends and if you cant it might mean stopping being friends with them, if it seriously affecting you.
