Mums - would you talk to your teenage daughter about self pleasure?

Iv just seen a snippet on Oprah about Mothers talking to their teenage daughters about masturbation - what do you think? Most parents seem to agree to talk to their teenagers about sexual intercourse - but would you teach your girls about masturbation?

That's a trick question. All parents teach their children something about ************-even if it's just shame.

If she brought it up, absolutely. I wouldn't bring it up though

Absolutely!! Not in a lot of detail, but I told BOTH of my kids- son and daughter-that after a hot and heavy date they could avoid sex and come home and take care of those feelings themselves.I don't know how well it actually worked but we had no out of wedlock babies or STDs.

Definitely....it is good for her to be aware she doesn't need to put out to release those needs.

Yes, I did talk to my oldest about it when she was younger.. She is 25 now....

I had to ,though, because she started doing it when she was like 7 years old on and she.. umm.. didn't have the concept of that was a private thing to do, either...

So I told her it was ok to do that, but she needed to do it alone in her room...

When she was a teenager she talked to me about it more in depth and we figured out she hadn't been doing the right thing.....lol

My daughter and I are very close.....

I talked to her about it...

It isn't like I showed her what to do it or anything like that, though.

Wow, I am glad I have a son. I don't know that I would "teach" my child about it persay, but if I walked in on something, I would not react. No condoning on something that is so normal.

I think they should, women need their pleasure too. Why should men have all the fun. Of course it can be a hard topic for many but it's not to late to find out more stuff about it. Stop making women feel ashamed about their body and what their bodies are feeling is what I always say.

If I had known about it when I was a teen, I could've saved myself a lot of time and grief wasted on guys.

Sex can wait--**********! from Will Ferrel and Cheri Oterri, from that cheerleading bit on SNL--Too funny

I think boys for the most part learn it on their own (THANK GOD I DONT HAVE GIRLS>>>LOL)....but if I did have a girl I wouldnt hesitate to somehow get the information across to her...I am a very sexually open person and depending on how she was with receiving the info I would work it out accordingly.... whether it be leaving her a book with a note or a video with a note or just right out sitting down and talking to her about it...

i am glad i have a son. i don't want a daughter. i think being a woman is disgusting. it is bad enough i was born one. and no i am not gay. i would rather stay busy doing other things than give into my sexual urges. if i gave into them it would make me feel like a sick cat in heat! not to mention i would want to get right into the shower after. i want to know that i am in control and it does not control me! i have been married twice by the way for those that might be curious. enough said.
