My bf is being tested for type 2 bipolar, I want to know positive stories of recovery I want to stay with him?

I have had two experiences with bipolar people. The first one isnt the greatest but the second one really shocked me. I met a friend in college and we were talking one day. He told me that he was bipolar and i was shocked. I asked him what he did to, for lack of a better phrase, get better. He told me that at first he had some real problems dealing with it and he had to force himself to do things he didnt want to when he was in one of his down moods. he talked himself through it and got really involved in something he loved. and he was able to become stable. He also said he didnt beleive in therapist or taking drugs for pschyological problems and that he felt he could do it himself so he did..

Just because he's being tested for it doesn't mean he'll change. Chances are, it'll bring a more positive light to your relationship, since his mood swings (assuming he has them) are explained.
Since it is a mental disorder, there's no real "recovery." It's treatable and managable, but it probably won't ever fully go away. Medications help, and a good support system is necessary.
That being said, I think you two will be fine. Just stand by him through irrational moods, and help him where you can. Being with someone who's bipolar isn't the easiest thing, but it can be worth it if you love them.
