Resolved Question

My boyfriend wants me to take down my dead husbands pictures who died 7 yr. ago from alcohol.?

We had no children together. So he says there no reason to hold onto the past. And he also wishes I would be able to pet his little lovable Yorkshires. He is a sober man 24 years. After my husband died I seem to have found more guys who drank to much also. He loves my cooking, He also has a good job. He loves God also. We have good sex. He is 8 years older then me. But I fear he will ask me to either sell my house and love his dogs. I know he is a good man. Maybe to good for me. Why do man always want to change me and tell me I am living in the past way to long now.

I still have a picture up of my husband who died in 2003. He is holding our son on his lap. Don't do it till you are ready. He has to accept you and give you time to grieve. It was your HUSBAND and if he really loves you, he will be patient with you. It doesn't matter how good of a job he has, if you settle and let him control you now, it starts a pattern.

I think it is a reasonable request for him to make, that you take down the photos of your dead husband. You should live in the moment, not the past. Keep the pictures in a place where you can pull them out and look at them when you want to remember him.

Don't do things that make you uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine having to be forced to get rid of my past

No. Positively, don't. Unless your place is like a shrine, why shouldn't you have reminders?

When he wants to marry you then take down the pictures.Don't let him control your life and decide what you SHOULD think, feel, want and get rid of! Don't be a push over or you will get pushed into doing what you don't prefer.

Well, its your pictures no his. If you want to keep them than he should respect that. He may be a very good man but everyone has their limits.

Tell him you will take down the picture when he gets rid of the dogs. It's called compromise, if he can't then send him on his way.

If that creep can't understand that you love your dead husband, lose him. He isn't "a good man"..sounds like a controlling *******. You are so much nicer than I am.....

your boyfriend would respect your boundaries if he loves you. This is a STRONG BRIGHT red flag. This is just your boyfriend- your husband was your husband. You are obviously not ready and there is no need EVER to let go of the bond you shared with your husband- ever. You will find a man who understands this. This is simply sad.
