He will be in a lot of pain for a while. The doctors will probably give him morphine, it will help alot. He will probably sleep alot. When he heals he can get a prostetic leg. My husband has one & it looks real, some people can't even tell. The down side to the ones that look real is that they are heavier, & when it rains they soak up moisture & humidity. They are harder to clean. He will be depressed but it will pass, as long as he has loved ones around to support him he will be fine.

You just need to be there for him. But don't enable him. Some people go into a deep depression try not to let get that far down in the hole.
I've been dealing with my brother that has head injury. He can't cook, take a shower, drive, check the mail, and shop. He becomes so dizzy and he lives alone. But a nurse comes in 5 days a week and my mom and I do it on the weekends. He also got the from a bike accident and he was wearing a helmet.
