Soup or stew is a great budget meal. Don't need a lot of protein and veggies are relatively inexpensive.

Nothing wrong with getting some ham/bologna/salami and cheese and bread for sandwiches. Most stores sell a decent bag of tortilla chips for a buck.

It never hurts to have sandwiches. It's great your kids aren't choosy. Since you DO have kids, good ol Mac N Cheese is the cheapest yet, if they like it. My niece eats it and likes it.

I used to have this problem in college. I would buy a sack of potatos, aluminum foil, and some cheese and just eat backed potatos. I got through a very rough summer like that.

Something else I did sometimes was alternate between eating a normal meal and then eating just bread and water. You have to eat the loaf of bread quickly though or else you will start to THINK about what else you could be eating. The trick is to hurry up and eat the bread and drink the water so that you are too full to want to eat anything else.

    You will live this way...
