    my grandparents lived thru the Great Depression they...
    shared bathwater (ugh)
    lived without a water heater (until my Gram passed away in 2007)
    never had a clothes dryer (hung wash out to freeze in a New England winter)
    never used a checking account or credit card
    hid money in coffee cans in the basement

    not the weirdest but boy, were they frugal!

    Impressive, my grandparents lived through a lot too, they'd save one teaspoon of canned corn and reserve it for dinner the next day!!!

    yes, my grandparents would do that too. toward the end of her life, my Gram wouldn't buy too many bananas b/c she was afraid she'd die before they ripened and then they'd go to waste!
