My living girlfriend cuddles her nine year old daughter to sleep every night. Is she too old for this?

A mother who loves her daughter and finds way to show it?

First off, I'm very glad to hear that she's alive and you haven't done anything rash in your frustration regarding this matter.

Secondly, perhaps there is a reason why her daughter may need a little cuddling at night. Maybe the girl went through something traumatic and neither of them feel comfortable telling you about it. Either way, the girl will probably soon become 'too cool' for the nighttime cuddles anyway ;-)

Try just talking to your gf about this, but approach the subject delicately. You don't want to seem insensitive or like you are trying to be more important than her daughter. Good luck! :-)

NO! They grow up so fast. She's still just a little girl. When did 9 become too old for cuddles?

if my mom had done that, maybe i wouldn't be so prickly. no, she's not to old.

If this is just something special that your girlfriend and her daughter do, maybe you should reconsider how you think about it. If her daughter acts less mature than a 9 year old and your living girlfriend does other things that says her daughter's behavior is okay... well, maybe she is too old for that.

No she is not too old for that, She loves her daughter and this is good. But I hope not to the point where she defends her even when she is wrong. Let it be out of love and not obesssion.

It does seem a little strange. Does she maybe have some issues or has something happened in her past?

no way ... she's almost a teenager .. let your girlfriend get in all the cuddles she can ... things are about to change.

Oh and yeah ... how does your dead GF respond to the same situation ... I'm thinking less cuddling ????

her daughter probably craves the attention her mother is giving her, probably feels a little insecure and threatened by you... Children grow up so fast. Your Gf is also probably loving the attention & closeness as well. Just bear in mind that it doesnt continue till she is well into her teenage years. then you will have a big problem on your hands.

Some children need to be cuddled to sleep, And if she has always cuddled her daughter to sleep then the child expects it all the time. But the child could be nervous and needs a cuddle by her mum.
