should i not deal with her at all? i was thinking long handled spoon....only talk to her if i need something. she gives me a lift to the grocery store and when i have to go somewhere important while im not driving so my thought was to just be cordial enough to get what i need then go back into my own world is that wrong

Sounds like you need to make better friends and forget those that make you feel worse about yourself. You can't prevent people from talking about you. It just doesn't work that way. You can only smile and wave.
