My trainer gave me a new 1500 calorie diet......?

My trainer gave me a 1500 calorie diet that alternates days between high carb, high protein, high fat. Has anyone tried this?

1500 kcals is enough only if you're sitting on your butt all day. And then only if you have a specific medical condition.

You need more calories if you're doing more 'work'(training).

Also, you need enough calories to just merely make your organs work at a baseline efficiency to then begin to the toil of fat-burning. It's kind of like a wood-burning pit fire. If you're too weak to stack the excess wood then you'll never burn it. And in this analogy you can't eat wood (fat does not make the body work as well as new food, ahem.)

1500 calories and extra exercise will starve you and essentially emaciate the "core" self...bones, marrow, sinew, joints. Don't do that. It takes a lot longer to build back up than it does to wear it down.

The reason "Western scientific" diets don't work is because they really don't know how fat is stored or lost. Put your money into appointments with a Chinese Medicine doctor and take their treatments and advice. You'll feel more motivated and loose weight because the herbs and acupuncture and habit-changes will make your body work more efficiently. You can then motivate yourself to do the kind of work you'll then be capable of handling and you won't burnout or rebound.

No. But I recently read a news article about world hunger and poverty that stated people who consume less than 1800 calories per day are considered "hungry".

Strange how the "experts" can put a spin on anything.

For your diet needs, consult a certified naturopath, not a "trainer".

Good Lord no... I would faint by mid-afternoon! The trick isn't some 'adjusted' diet as that is not long term sustainable... the 'trick' isn't a trick. Burn more than you eat with varied exercise in a balanced diet and you will lose weight. There are some diets (low carb, etc.) that can help you lose weight somewhat drastically, but in order to keep the weight off you must 'keep the fire burning' at a higher pace than you 'stoke the fire'. Really it is as simple as that...

If you are working out hard enough, you should be eating a little more than that. I would not stick to that kind of calorie restriction more than a week at a time. Your body will start starving and storing everything you eat as fat. Muscle mass eats fat. When I was at my ideal weight (125) I was eating over 3000 cal/day because I was both working out with weights and doing 30 minutes of cardio 5 days/week.
