Ice or heat packs, heat creams or ice creams for the area helps too. Having a pillow cushioning the area may ease the disconfort and lessen the pain like when you are sitting or laying down. I find hot baths work wonders for me when I have pain as it relaxed the area and makes it less tense, but massaging may help too if its not too painful and you have another person to help you.
