National guard?

Hey I am a college sophmore who has been thinking about joining the national guard. I have also thought about Medical or PA school down the road. I was wondering if it is not only possible but reasonable to attend these post-grad schools and be in the national guard at the same time. I have been thinking about health care and would love to get a chance to serve my country through the NG. i just know the application process for medical school can be extremely difficult and was wondering if it has been done before??? o and i know the army offers TONs of programs for officers in healthcare but right now i am just trying to figure out what i like and I think joining the NG as a 68w (or really anywhere in the 68 branch) would be a great way of gaining experience. any advice would be helpfull!! THANKS!!!!

I am sure it is possible, BUT you have to remember that there are certain benefits you wont get in the National Gaurd. Try looking up things on Military.com or Militaryonesource.com. Also it is a good idea to talk to the recruiters, thats their job to know these things, or to find them out for you... just be firm in your decision. Some recruiters will say anything to get you to join. Also your advancment in ranks will take longer as National Gaurd then it would Active Duty.

National Guard is like a weekend thing. My step-dad and my ex-boyfriend were both in it. So, I would yes to your question.

I don't know, you should talk to a National Guard recruiting agent though. I am sure the he/she will be able to provide you with all of the necessary information.
