It is simple if you understand how it is in many ways the new for of fascism in the Italian sense. That is to mean how Mussolini's ghost writer Giovanni Gentile defined fascism as being more appropriately called Corporatism and defined it as the merger of corporate and state power.

Great information, I will google Giovani definitely. I mean, I understand why does this happen, my questions are pointed at people who would actually defend neoliberal capitalism, to make them question it.

Best Answer

Sam reasons Progressives advocated for it, Banks fund elections.

Best Answer

I think it's more than that. Politicians obviously obey the banks. I would even say they work for them, or at least, with them. Whatever it is, their neoliberal ideological fairy tale is a fraud.

Best Answer

Neoliberalism has nothing to do with. Banks and financial institutions were saved because they are politically connected and their continued existence was important to the power elite. How is Neoliberalism a fraud?

Best Answer

Because neoliberalism advocates no social care or aid for the unsuccessful, cause it holds them accountable for their unsuccess. Banks are to blame for their failure and yet taxpayers money was given to them. That's a fraud, neoliberal politicians lie about their ideals. We can debate the reasons why they lie, but they lie, they don't stick to their neoliberal principles when the rich and influential need free money.

Actually the Federal Government gave banks a free ride to loan to the poor and picked up the tab for failed loans. This gave an incentive to banks to lend to those who were undeserving of loans. It should also be noted that the Banks were not all failing. Some were, but the Federal Government forced all banks to participate in TARP to hide which banks were insolvent. The failures of individuals is not the fault of the banking industry. The ideology was not a failure. The politicians who neglected their ideology when their interests were at stake are.

Neo liberalism is different to libertarianism. Neo liberals have no problem using the state to achieve their political and economic objectives, in fact it is essential to them. The process whereby wealth is privatised but risk is socialised for the financial services is typical of this.

Having said that I really don't think a 'pure' free market is the answer either. I don't think it could work and in all examples I know of its been disastrous.

Best Answer

Yes, but those who are at the top obviously abuse the ideology. Politicians and bankers. So, they lie. That was my point, while for the ideology, I think it failed on other levels, Adam Smith said capitalism will lead to just society where all will participate and have equal chances. It is obvious that it isn't the case today.

Because if the banks collapse, so does the economy!
Far too many pension companies invested their peoples money in the banks believing them to be safe places to deposit your money!
But somebody somewhere needs to be accountable for the mess they put us in!

Island let its banks collapse and nothing happened. While for the banks, hm, why didn't they give them loans so they would return the money to taxpayers when they get back on their feet? Countries like Greece for example, were given credits while banks which are first to blame for the crisis got away with free money. And the banks got even more rich in the last few years, than they were before the recession.

The Iceland example is interesting and as someone who hates investment banking, I want to agree. Though Iceland does have a tiny population and to do that the world over would be far more of a shock. Having said that, I do agree with you and it shows how powerful the banking sector unfortunately are.

well, i can't speak for Ireland. i think they over-estimated their wealth while riding the Euro gravy train! And to the eternal shame of Europe. nobody bothered to check and see if they were actually solvent!!
In the UK the banks were bailed out and that secured the currency against a run from other panicking nations at the time!
But it did come with heavy payback clauses!!
Some are only now coming back into solvency!
All of which is a pain for the UK government as they are stuck with a sizable slice of the ownership of some of them. But no Brit wants to buy the shares!!

I think you mean neocons.

Best Answer

Hm... No I mean neoliberals. Neocons are just radical right wing of neoliberals, but democrats for example, also share neoliberal ideology, and in the end, it was Obama, a democrat, who gave taxpayers money to 'rescue' banks.

Best Answer

No, it was GW Bush who signed the massive auto bailout and bank rescue bills before he left office.

Best Answer

Hm, from what I know Obama gave the money. If Bush signed it that's another story. But democrats share neoliberal ideology nevertheless. Even left wing democrats like Sanders are still neoliberal, just that they lean towards the welfare state.

Go to school kid you really need it! Wait don't know if it will help since schools with their liberal agenda is how you don't understand basic math in the first place.

Best Answer

You paternalistic comments just give away your primitivism and the lack of arguments. These facts given here are obvious hypocrisy. Homeless and poor don't deserve government help, banks do, even though they got even more richer in the end. Go teach me math some more, I like math from your neoliberal fairytales. Please be frustrated about my comment and go show me your primitivism some more.

My apologies. I read the question wrong. Sorry.

Aha, I see what you thought from the question. The answer wasn't polite nevertheless, even though we obviously agree. Apology accepted. :)

Really conservatives have now turned Wisconsin from a wealth creating state to a depressed state and done the same in Ohio, Michigan, and throughout the rust belt and border states. They've crushed unions and the middle class everywhere. The conservative south lags behind the rest of the country in all meaningful wellness catagories and in happiness as well. Unless you are at least a multi millionaire you vote against your interests voting for conservatives. You are the ill educated one woman, neocons are welfare for the rich.

Best Answer

So what is my interest?

Best Answer

That's neoliberal capitalism, socialism for the rich and feudalism for the poor. :) But democrats are not much better, we shouldn't be deceived. They are less radical than neocons, but they're still hard neoliberals. Even Sanders is neoliberal in its ideology, he just leans more towards the welfare state.

Best Answer

Notjustme, your interest is to actually live in a better society and have better and more equal chances for success as neocons promise you to have it while they actually make measures to do the opposite.
