I would just like to say that I am amazed that someone thought of this in the first place.

Not to be rude, but how would one compare that ? Would being half & half affect the results ?

black body radiators is the scientific term. Black radiates more heat so black people feel colder. Black people have pigmentation because that's where we grew up in the rift valley of Africa. It's hot there so we need to shed heat

then we move to Europe and we get pale. We need to shed less heat and then absorb it

So Swedish people have pale skins because losing heat is a bad thing in the arctic circle.

Sadly the one price we have to pay for that is really bad swedish music cuz they really aint down wiv da groove

If humankind originated from Africa, and different groups travelled throughout the world, and their bodies adapted to suit the various climates...that's the premise.

White reflects heat and black absorbs it. Swedish people are pale because they aren't living where the sun is harsh. African people are dark because the melanin protects their skin from the intense sun exposure.

They probably absorb more sun since black absorbs heat and white reflects it but the melanin (what makes their skin dark) protects them from it.

I know the actual colour black absorbs heat (clothing, for example), but while I have melanin in my skin, it's not literally black.

Some people are almost literally black. Darker colors absorb heat. If you aren't dark, you aren't really who the question is about, from my understanding :p

I would think the bodies natural cooling system would keep them as cool as whites. we all start sweating when our body tells us were overheating. Human bodies stay fairly close to 98.6 degrees whether it's hot or cold. Children and older people have a more difficult time regulating their temps.

I don't know. But I do know when a black person gets a sunburn it a whole lot worse than a white persons.

based on some acquaintances, I'd hazard a guess why that might be so. Many people still think the melanin means no extra skin protection is necessary (big mistake). Skin will burn, regardless of colour, so without sunscreen it would indeed be worse.

Ummmmm...I'm the whitest white girl you'll ever meet, and I always feel the heat waaaay more intensely than a lot of people.

I think heat tolerance is more of an individual thing.

I don't know, maybe not because many sweat more profusely and that's an efficient way to cool the body... the black people I know seem to suffer more when its very cold.

There's a black fella living near me and he's been here for the last 40 years and his skin has gone pale (not completely white), but the black has paled alot since he moved here. He admits it himself . (In Ireland).
