November, are you kidding Me?

Is not a holiday for Native Americans. It morbidly celebrates the pilgrims who STOLE, LIED to, & KILLED, the Native Americans as I recall!

Ooookay. You have some choices here:
1.) Accept that November was designated as Native American Heritage Month and celebrate it.
2.) Don't accept it, and celebrate your heritage another time.
3.) Lobby and complain to have it changed.

By the way, the meaning of Thanksgiving is not to celebrate killing Native Americans. It is to be grateful for what you have in life.

Personally as a member of the Pottawatomie Tribal Nation I have no issue with Thanksgiving whatsoever. It is a holiday meant to celebrate the harvest and give thanks for all our blessings.

The one holiday I do find a bit 'odd' but not really 'offensive' is Christopher Columbus Day. First, he didn't 'discover' America... it was here all along with people living in it. Also, he wasn't even the first 'European' to find the North American continent as the 'Scandinavians' had done so many times for centuries prior to his arrival... so that's nothing to 'celebrate' either. Basically it seems day for Italians to celebrate a famous Italian (and isn't it ironic that modern research has given strong hints that he was actually a "Marrano" (secret Jew) masquerading as a Portuguese ship's captain). All in all... a very strange holiday.
