    but the first thing that came to my mind,
    was the bollywood film i saw TAREE ZAMEEN PAR. (stars on earth)

    Classic has to be 'Papillon'. Steve Mcqueen showed just how good he really was. Although Jean Paul Rappeneau's 'Cyrano de Bergerac' is astonishing beautiful. Not an epic but one i never tire of is 'Leaving las Vegas'. Stunning performances and cinematography.
