On a block of land you purchase, there lives a tree that is at least 200 years old!?

Would you pull it out...or build around it?

this might seem crazy to some but i would build my house totaly around it. i would have it going through the middle of my home. yes there would be bugs but really what home "never" has a few ants or spiders!! there are eco friendly ways to put a roof on to where it won't harm the tree and at 200 years old the tree is done growing so the idea would work

ideally, I would just leave it alone and give it space (I wouldn't want to inhibit it by building too close).

I wouldn't remove it...I couldn't destroy something like that (unless it were already dead anyways).

Build a tree house and become one with the tree.

Assuming the tree is healthy, I would definitely avoid cutting it down. A big, beautiful tree can enhance a property's landscaping value.

However, I'd be concerned about the tree's health, as trees such as oaks (in America) don't live much past 200-250 years. Other trees will live a lot longer. So it depends a bit on the TYPE of tree.

I would try my best to build around it, but the last thing I would want to do is chop it down.

Suppose it would depend on where the tree is situated. But I would try to avoid "killing' it.

If the tree is solid and safe, build structures in a way to keep it that way. If the tree had issues, I probably wouldn't even buy the land, and just leave the land to the tree.

Build around it! It should be a crime to cut that tree down. For all I know its a sin! =)

I would chop it down immediately, make some instant antique furniture, and sell it to a bunch of shell collectors looking to furnish their RV's.
