Pretty much depends on how she feels about what he's doing, doesn't it? Maybe she'd rather have him kept than roaming the streets ... or maybe whatever they had was killed by whatever put her in trouble with the law -- couple of the usual reasons ould definitely hit any relationship below the belt. As @kimmygary says, "isnt a fiance no more - whe she gets out she dont need him". Maybe the flip side is true, also. Or maybe they are both just taking a "time out" in their own ways, will reunite and live happily ever after ... fade to pink, roll credits.
