Neither. It was named after Bill Orange. He had been eating carrots for carrots for years and turned that color. Thus the name.

well, Orange is not AN orange, yet AN orange IS orange, therefore I conclude that THE orange came first.
As for the chicken.... If god made man as a man and not as a ***** or fertilized egg to begin with then the man comes before the *****/egg. So in that logic.. the chicken must come before the egg. (if you believe the bible.)
If its evolution.. then i imagine that the answer is similar to the bible, because a baby could not take care of itself, unless we start as bacteria to fish to amphibian creature to walking as adolesents then to adults, to which we "consumate humanity" to produce a human child.
But the real question is..... Who came first, the human or the chicken?
and the answer? the human because chickens lay eggs.
