While we must try to teach our children well, Princess. When it comes down to it, as we did, they will make their own decision, and hopefully, it will be an informed decision. All we can to is try to be a power of example, teach them, be there for them and always love them. There are no guarantees in life...

Would it have been possible for your parents to stop you? How is it done?

I think we need to stop drinking to excess at any age. Right before Thanksgiving I lost my 28 year old nephew when a driver coming from the other direction right in front of him and his motorcycle. He tried to avoid the accident but there just wasn't time. He died before the paramedics got there which was just a few minutes later.

My grown up children will have a drink but NEVER would they be stupid enough to have a drink and then get behind the wheel. Education starts young I believe and I never shied away from teaching my children the facts....way before they needed to use the knowledge learnt.
    Thank goodness your nephew survived.

it is about being responsible for your behavior. it isn't just about drinking. Reckless driving while sober is as deadly, or using drugs and driving. It is about being aware that your actions can harm, and so you need to be always alert to the way you interact with your surroundings

I hate when mainstream music encourage drinking and live fast, die young. It's just absurd .

We must start while they are still kids. Not allowing them to have all they want is a good way to teach them self control
