Parents: If your children won a scholar to study abroad where is very far from you, Would u allow ?

yes. If they won a scholarship they have showed they are mature enough for such an experience. And even if they hadn't won a scholarship but wanted to, I would say yes- experience is AS important as booklearning.

Anachronym	Posted Apr 24th, 2009 at 8:22PM I think it would depend entirely on the maturity of the child/student. My daughter I would have encourage that opportunity in an instant. My son however, no freaking way. lol But there does have to be a certain level of trust on both parents and child as well as certain guidelines. This would help the child to know exactly where their parents stand and vice versa. It is a huge step for both but also a huge step to adulthood. Rated: +1Vote for this!
wonderbred	Posted Apr 24th, 2009 at 9:09PM I'm not a parent but a 38 year old student going to Italy to study architecture in January and i'm sooo excited. If you decide to let them go, find out as much information about the program as you can. Itinerary, residence, food, health, money, everything. Also get to know the Progam Director personally. the more you know the less apprehensive you may be.......it is after all, a chance of a kifetime....It's costing me $3500!!!!!!!!........Good luck, hope this helps!! -----------------------------Wonderbred Rated: +1Vote for this!

edgargeorge	Posted Apr 27th, 2009 at 9:59AM Yeeeessssss....I already agreed to allow my daughter to go to India to study (we're American), but she didn't get the grant. Whew. I have to admit that while it would have been an amazing opportunity for her, I really didn't want her so far from home where I couldn't help her if she needed it. Rated: +1Vote for this!
