Yes its true I know no one else matters to me but me but thats not true its how it should be for our own safety (unless your a parent or guardian)

That's the way I heard it and it was credited to Mark Twain... but it was also on a public restroom wall, so the credit may be wrong...
I think it is mostly true... Though I do think that since reality is about 95% perception, how others see you is a very small part of you...
I think what it means is to not let that 5% muck you up... Know thyself... Know thy loved ones... The rest is gravy...
