Phew!! Is it normal to have hot flashes for four years and counting?

I had surgery four years ago as of June 5 and Im still having hot flashes and night sweats. I was told that they could last as long as three years but this is BEYOND that. Has any other woman experienced this?

AmericanMade	Posted Jul 8th, 2009 at 2:17PM My mother did when she went through pre-menopause:( It may get better once you are in full blown menopause. She has been in the early stages of menopause for about 13 years, but her hot flashes are gone.... for now. They could come back once she enters menopause. You should talk to your doctor about it. looneylulu	Posted Jul 8th, 2009 at 2:17PM Don't assume it's all hot flashes, could be being caused by medications. I thought I was going thru menopause, but here it was a side effect for several of my meds. Just a thought! Rated: +1Vote for this!

ANEWME	Posted Jul 8th, 2009 at 2:53PM I'm through menopause---YYYEEEAAAHH!!--but the nightsweats are brutal---woke up 3 or more times a night--burning up--blankets get thrown off--I've been out on my deckin the dead of winter standing in the snow to cool down--then go back to bed. I believe it is very normal and that they can last for a good long time--I'm fortunate that I pretty much sailed through that part of "womanhood" and I'm glad it's done!!!
