Ya know, regifting has become a pretty common practice, but there are rules to doing it properly.

1) Make sure it's something the person will actually appreciate, or that you think they will appreciate; don't gift it because it was free or because you just want to get rid of it.

2) Don't regift something you have used.

3) If necessary, make sure the person who originally gave you the gift in the first place isn't going to find out. My wife and I gave a couple a crystal bowl with each of their first initials etched into it, they gave it to another couple with the same first initials. I guess they thought the initials were a company seal or something.

4) Don't be a ***** and whine if you find out your regift is regifted to someone else. If you can regift something, you can handle having the things you gifted regifted as well.

Nah. As long as the two parties don't know each other. I've done it.

Yeah.
It wasn't a premeditated gift to you, and I'm sure if you told the guy, he'd have no issue with it.
Besides, if you don't want it...

Absolutely acceptable. Just don't regift the same gift to the original gift giver. (say that 3 times real fast!) And food is always good, as long as it's still fresh......

Yes as it is the thought that counts not the value of the gift

About regifting.

If you don't want it, then definitely get rid of it in some way. Throwing it away is a huge waste. You can give it to someone else whether or not it is a holiday. Why not regift something to someone else just because you saw the unwanted item and thought about them?
