Here is what worked for me...
Study... Read it... It goes in thru your eyes.... (Stored in one part of brain)
Write it out... comes out thru your hands... (Stored in other part of brain)
Read it out loud to a recorder.... In thru eye... out thru mouth... More brain...
Listen to the recording... in thru the ears... new part of the brain...
THEN.... See if you can write all of it out on paper...
When you can write it all out..... Take an ICE COLD SHOWER... untill you shiver... The body releases cortisol, (A stress hormone) and everything in your short term memory gets moved into long term memory.... (The idea is that somewhere in there you will remember what brought you to the stress, and avoid it)....

I hope this helps.

yeah it sucks but it's the only way. When I was younger, my twin and I would quiz each other day and night, but no one likes me enough to do that for a few days straight :)
