My girlfriend has herpes and she always tells men before they have sex. OR she dates men from a herpes dating group she belongs to. I had no idea how widespread it was!

Do you have ANY idea how widespread herpes is? FOUR out of FIVE AMERICANS have it and they don't even know it!

I would not say anything until we reached the intimacy point. and yes, I would tell them. It is their health in my hands

Hello, my name is X. I have an STD, not herpes or HIV, that I am treating at the moment under a doctor's supervision. I am able to have relations, but will need to use a condom for the next little while. Are you okay with that? :)

I would see it as my responsibility to tell them before the date. Not like: "Hey there, how are you doing? I have an STD by the way." but when they seem interested and want to go out for a drink or something, I'd say: "I would really like that... but there is a problem..." so they don't spend days thinking about me only to be stupefied by the facts during the date...

I agree with Delilah. I see no point in telling someone until you see that it may become intimate at some point. Then I would definitely tell them and no minimizing it. Give them the facts. So far in all my years, I have never had to do that as I have never had an STD. Now at almost 71, I don't have to worry to much about getting anything., sadly.
