    Look up some genealogy, see where your family is from and try to visit those area's or even old homes they had or cemeteries...

    That depends. Do you speak any foreign languages? Do you want to learn one? There is no" best" place to go unfortunately. Do you like mountains, oceans, deserts etc. Do you enjoy the city or are you attracted to open spaces. Not that these are the best places for you, but I would choose a country that speaks a language you're interested in learning. 5 countries come to mind.

    1. Switzerland and/or Austria

    2. Turkey

    3. Brazil

    4. Columbia

    5. Somewhere in the South Pacific

    Can speak a bit of french but planning on learning spanish. The idea is to go away for a year or two so i could get in a good few places at first but then i want to stay and work in a place for a few months as well.

    I imagine you are much younger than I am. I think that is an awesome idea. I never did that in my 20's, but I'm taking a leave of absence this year to your South America. Good for you.

    Yeah Australia was my first thought. Everybody is out there now. Canada is another choice.
