You can apply to many prodution companies that need daily writers for sitcoms biography and school books.
These are done in like a production style writing and you just follow their format.
This way you are writing getting a paycheck and you will be around people that are in the buss. like editors, drafters and as all hang and do bussiness together.
As for wanting to make a living right out of school wow.
Maybe marry into the Spelling family

The best advice I can give is to find a writer's critique group that meets near you; the group should be free, with no charges for critiquing your work, but they usually expect you to critique theirs also...it's a give and take. Google "writing groups" and add your city and state...it should bring up some local groups. My group critiques have been invaluable. If you are interested in writing for children or young adults, there is SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writer's and Illustrators)...they often have people in different cities that host meetings and you usually don't have to be a SCBWI member to attend.
The next advice would be to read, read, read, write, write, write, and don't get your feelings hurt from the critiques. As a new/young writer, don't let it discourage you or stop you from doing what you love! Everyone...(and I mean Everyone) makes mistakes...my group members found so many in the last few Harry Potter books, but when you get to J.K.'s level of success, it's often forgiven, whereas the rest of us are used to rewrites, revisions, and reworks. Best of Luck *smiles* P.S. Do go to college for whatever you decide to do...even writing!

You can research some publication offices and find out a way to get your name in and your book looked at. They will ask you questions like 'whats the plot' 'how long is it/going to be' etc. They will keep you informed and call you to initiate a publication. Good luck..inspiring writers UNITE! :]
